Vehicles with the EMTRAC system transmit a priority request to equipped intersections when passing through geographic detection zones. The intersection-control cabinet contains an EMTRAC Priority Detector, which relays the priority-request to the signal controller.

EMTRAC is completely automatic and requires no driver interaction. In addition, EMTRAC can be configured to allow priority control based on time of day, route schedule, material levels, or other factors.

Track Vehicle Progress & Material Levels

The EMTRAC system also enable municipal vehicles to report location data to operations centers. Agency personnel can monitor vehicle locations, diagnostics, and supply levels in real time. Vehicles can also be quickly sent to new routes or locations while monitoring personnel track completed routes and assignments.

As EMTRAC-equipped vehicles report their locations, a central workstation (equipped with EMTRAC software) displays their current locations on city maps. Monitoring personnel can determine the location of a specific vehicle with the click of a button. They can also choose to display only vehicles belonging to a specific department, making it easier to locate and re-route vehicles.

  • Reliability: Wireless communication is not hampered by adverse weather conditions, and the range is typically no less than 3,000 feet, requiring relatively few detector units.
  • Timeliness: Improve clearing times by enabling designated vehicles (such as snow plows) to request priority through signalized intersections.
  • Security: Maintain secure communication through the ISM radio band with AES-encrypted radio.
